North Las Vegas Police, the Justice Department and the FBI are hosting a safety workshop for senior citizens from noon to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive.
The workshop, designed to teach senior citizens how to protect themselves and their money, will cover subjects such as personal safety, financial safety, telemarketing fraud and con artists.
Speakers include representatives from Stop DUI, AARP 55 Alive, FBI, Community Action Against Rape, Las Vegas Valley Water District, Sprint, IBEW Credit Union, and A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. an investment company.

Las Vegas Academy plans fund-raiser
The Las Vegas Academy' Vocal Department will host Renaissance Feast at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the academy, 315 S. Seventh St.
The fund-raiser event's proceeds will go to the students' personal school accounts for school related activities, as well as the general choir account.

Sunrise Hospital will host fair Wednesday
In honor of National Pain Awareness Day, Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children's Hospital will host the Pain Management Quality Fair from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the hospital's auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.
The fair will feature 20 exhibits providing information and demonstrations on the latest technology, medication techniques and services in pain management.
Prizes and refreshments will be offered. Call 731-8018.
Advance directives topic of discussion
Sunrise Senior Friends presents "Advance Directives and Self-Determination," a discussion from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at 3101 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 314.
Sugar Vogel, an attorney for the Senior Law Project, will help sort through documents such as Advance Directives, Living Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney and Do Not Resuscitate Orders, to ensure that health choices and decisions are carried out.

Jackie Delaney,
president and chief executive officer of Sun West Bank, will be honored at the 2002 Reach for the Stars, benefiting the American Diabetes Association. It begins with a silent auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Hilton. Delaney will be honored in recognition of her continuous involvement in the Las Vegas community. Call 737-3100.
The Alzheimer's Association of Southern Nevada
will host a roast of Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Golden Nugget. Other guests include Councilman Larry Brown, David Chesnoff, Virginia Valentine and Carolyn Goodman. Call 248-2770.
The first Jerusalem Shabbat
dinner and service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Temple Beth Am, 9001 Hillpointe Road. Cost of the dinner is $8; $5 for children ages 8 and under. For reservations, call 254-5110.
The sixth annual camp
scholarship-yard sale for youth will be 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Warm Springs Baptist Church, 2075 E. Warm Springs Road. In addition to the yard sale, junior and senior high school students will be washing cars and selling baked goods to raise money for summer camp scholarships. For more information, call 361-7070.
