UNLV fares well in California events

Splitting time between the legendary Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and Long Beach Invitational, the UNLV women's track and field team marked best times at both weekend meets.

The Rebels took home first-place honors in the university division of the Mt. SAC 4x400 meter relay with a season-best time of 3:35.08.

In individual events, Nickerisha Charles marked a career best in the 400 meters with a time of 53.96 seconds. Christine Spence also turned in a career best performance in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.15.

At Long Beach, sophomore Cherokee Osborne set a career and season best in the 400 meter hurdles, clocking 1:01.97. Junior distance runner Jessica Zarndt finished seventh in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:26.37.

Up next, the Rebels will head to the Micron College Open on April 26-27 in Boise, Idaho.
