Gregory K. Abbott

Gregory K. Abbott, 47, of Las Vegas died April 4 in Las Vegas. He was born March 19, 1955, in Weisbaden, Germany. A resident for 27 years, he was a stagehand, a Vietnam War Army veteran and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

He is survived by his wife, Doris J.; one stepdaughter, Keasha Free of Alhambra, Calif.; two stepsons, Charles B. Free of Las Vegas and Kenneth Key of Waterloo, Iowa; three sisters, Debra Andersen, Leslie A. Scott and Laurie K. Abbott, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Douglas F. Abbott of Miami and Kevin D. Abbott of Boulder City; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Esther Glaim Arneson

Esther Glaim Arneson, 75, of North Las Vegas, died April 5 in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Clarkfield, Minn. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Arneson of Barrington, R.I., and Joel Arneson of Battle Creek, Mich.; three daughters, Karen Blevins of Waxahachie, Texas, Jacquie Spehn of North Las Vegas and Pat Kozak of Searchlight; one sister, Ruth Fossler of Las Vegas; one brother, Helmer Glaim of Roseville, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. May 16 in El Jen Convalescent Home, 5538 W. Duncan Drive. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Marie Ann Bartolotta

Marie Ann Bartolotta, 59, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Bayonne, N.J. A resident for eight years, she was a retired family therapist.

She is survived by one daughter, Amy, one son, Andrew, and one sister, Laura, all of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Lydia Ann Brackbill

Lydia Ann Brackbill, 95, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 3, 1906, in Lancaster, Pa. A resident for 30 years, she was a seamstress.

She is survived by four sons, Jim of Lancaster and Donald, Raymond and John, all of Las Vegas; four daughters, Mary Reeder and Jane Diem, both of Lancaster, and Patricia Durs and Shirley Wertz, both of Las Vegas; 29 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 40 great-great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Jane J. Carlson

Jane J. Carlson, 91, of Las Vegas and Goldfield died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 11, 1910, in Brownsville, Texas. A resident for 43 years, she was a school district secretary.

She is survived by one daughter, Madeline Day of Las Vegas.

Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Alexander Gould

Alexander Gould, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born March 6, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for five years, he was a retired lighting salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, David Gould of Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Robin Gould of San Rafael, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Roy G. Grant Jr.

Roy G. Grant Jr., 68, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Bradenton, Fla. A resident for 32 years, he was a self-employed automotive mechanic, a former Sunday school teacher at Good Samaritan Church and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Nora Annette Vines of Taylor, Fla., Claire Sue Ashton of Marysville, Wash., and Lissa Darlene Kramer of Lexington, Ky.; two sons, Hubbard Harold Harvey Jr. of Taylor and Clifford Deryle Grant of Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother, Viola Grant Dehn of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Robert J. Hellriegel Jr.

Robert J. Hellriegel Jr., 29, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1972, in San Rafael, Calif. A resident for 22 years, he was a casino soft count supervisor, a 1995 graduate of UNLV, a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and a 1991 graduate of Eldorado High School.

He is survived by his father, Robert J. Hellriegel, and one sister, Kimberly Ortosky, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Ellen Hellriegel of Las Vegas and W. Pierce and Maggie Ellis of Laurel, Del.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Love and Truth Ministries, 2840 E. Florence Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Crystal Marie Kallio

Crystal Marie Kallio, 18, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for eight years, she was born Jan. 1, 1984, in Texas.

She is survived by her companion, James Banks Jr., two daughters, Aryana Banks and Jamines M. Banks, her father and stepmother, Ronald and Doris Kallio, two brothers, Kary Kallio and Ronnie Kallio, and her grandparents, Charles W. and Joan E. Gee, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Church of the Lord Jesus, 1260 W. Bartlett Ave. Graveside services are pending.

L. Henry 'Hank' Kovell

L. Henry "Hank" Kovell, 80, of California died Friday in a Los Angeles hospital. A former Las Vegas resident, he owned a local public relations agency, was publicity and advertising director for the Moulin Rouge, Fremont and Frontier hotels and authored "The Poor Man's Guide to Las Vegas." He was a retired Navy petty officer and World War II veteran. In 1946 he joined the Armed Forces Radio Service, then wrote for "Command Performance" and other shows until 1953 when he became a writer and producer for the Armed Forces Network Europe in Frankfurt Germany. He also wrote a seniors column for the Los Angeles Times for 17 years, "The Mature Traveler."

He is survived by one brother, Ed Kovell of Oakland, Calif.; and several nieces.

Services will be private. Armstrong Family Malloy-Mitten Mortuary, Los Angeles, is handling arrangements.

Roy Lee Loos

Roy Lee Loos, 49, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a specialty hospital. He was born March 14, 1953, in Denver. A resident for seven years, he was a flexpack operator for a garment manufacturer and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three daughters, Jennie Hay and Lisa Sessions, both of Murray, Utah, and Lori Lambrose of Kaysville, Utah; one son, Terry Green of Ogden, Utah; his parents, Bernard and Arlene Loos of Fleming, Colo.; one brother, Ray D. Loos of Ogden; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Walter Flanders Nelson

Walter Flanders Nelson, 69, of North Las Vegas died Friday in North Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Missouri. A resident for eight years, he was a security officer.

He is survived by his wife, Vereneice; one son, Ronnie Nelson of Kansas City, Mo.; eight daughters, Donna Alexander, Diane Sayers, Debra Roland, Cynthia Nelson and Glenda Wilson, all of Kansas City, Teresa Childs of Colorado and Teri Nelson and Angela Daniels, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Genevieve Nelson-Warren of Tulsa, Okla.; four sisters, Darlene Augerbright and Della Gould, both of Tulsa, Mary Ealom of Topeka, Kan., and Ruth Williams of Colorado; five brothers, Roy S. Nelson, Harold E. Nelson and James F. Nelson, all of Kansas City, William Daniel Nelson of Kentucky and Rudolph N. Nelson of Tulsa; 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Holy Trinity Church, 700 Lola Ave., North Las Vegas. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive., is handling arrangements.

Robert R. Newhall

Robert R. Newhall, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 5, 1948, in Rockville Center, N.Y. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired Air Force staff sergeant and Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Sharon Rigg of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Howard John Rambicur

Howard John Rambicur, 82, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born March 21, 1920, in St. Bernard, Ohio. A resident for 52 years, he was a retired Sands hotel executive and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Dennis Rambicur of Henderson; one brother, Ralph Charles Rambicur of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Marge Vollner and Mary Rambicur, both of Cincinnati; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is arranging private services.

Anna Maurine Swarts

Anna Maurine Swarts, 87, of Boulder City died Saturday in Boulder City. She was born Aug. 17, 1914, in Alamo. A lifelong Nevada resident, she was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by one son, George Swarts of Las Vegas; one daughter, Sue Broadbent of Boulder City; nine grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Thursday in the LDS chapel, 916 Fifth St., Boulder City. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
