Police probe death at Polo Towers

Metro Police are searching for a woman believed to have shared a room in the Polo Towers with a 27-year-old Las Vegas man when he was killed in February.

Aldolfo Agramonte was found shot to death in a hallway of the hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard South near Harmon Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 1, police said.

Agramonte was killed in the hallway near the room he was sharing with Sandra Herrera. An investigation indicates Agramonte's killing was drug related, police said.

Police suspect Herrera was in the room at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.

Nothing dangerous found in motel

A joint investigation by Metro Police and the Clark County Fire Department of suspicious chemicals discovered in a motel room on Valley View Boulevard near Tropicana Avenue on Thursday afternoon snarled rush hour traffic, but did not uncover any dangerous substances.

At about 2 p.m. police called the fire department to investigate substances found in a room at the La Quinta Inn on Valley View, which was evacuated. Hazardous materials investigators feared there was an explosive device, prompting Metro to close traffic on Valley View, Tropicana, Wynn Road and Industrial Road from 4j to 6 p.m.

A bleach-like substance was detected in the room, County Fire Dept. spokesman Bob Leinbach said.

A little rain is in forecast

A sprinkle of rain in the Las Vegas Valley and a dusting of snow at Mount Charleston are possible today, the National Weather Service forecast said.

The temperature is expected to be the coldest so far this week. Today's high temperature will struggle to reach 70 degrees, Weather Service meteorologist Joe Nemeth said.

Clouds were expected to gather late this afternoon in the west over the Spring Mountains, bringing a chance of rain in the valley's foothills and a possible snowfall at Mount Charleston.

Woman found on mountain road

Metro Police are investigating the death of a woman found off Kyle Canyon Road to Mount Charleston Thursday as a homicide.

A motorist found the woman, whose name was not released this morning, about 5:45 a.m. Thursday on the side of Kyle Canyon Road near U.S. 95.

Evidence and circumstances suggest she was slain, police said. They suspect her body was dumped on the side of the road. There were tire tracks in the area around the body.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.

Henderson man killed in crash

A 76-year-old Henderson man was killed Thursday in a two-car accident at Sunset Road and Arroyo Grande Boulevard.

Steve Gregorich was traveling west in a station wagon on Sunset, made a left onto Arroyo Grande and collided with a Lincoln Navigator, police said.

Gregorich, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Woman, 34, killed in accident

A woman killed in an April 1 accident was identified this morning as 34-year-old Melissa Landry of Las Vegas.

Landry was driving a 1988 Ford Escort on Sahara Avenue near 17th Street April 1 when she apparently lost control of the car and crashed into a palm tree in the median, Metro Police said.

A passenger, Michael Tomlinson, 33, has been at University Medical Center since the accident. He was listed in good condition this morning and is expected to be released today, hospital officials said.
