Have old batteries? Turn them in
To commemorate Earth Day, AAA Nevada is holding its annual "Great Battery Roundup" to encourage the removal and recycling of old batteries.
For every battery turned in, AAA will donate up to $2 to the Clark County Wetlands Park. The program will runs through Saturday.
AAA is asking residents to bring dead batteries to one of these locations:
AAA Auto Guardian, 3550 E. Post Road, Suite 700; American Auto Care, 10177 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite P; Eco Jam Event, Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road (April 20 only).

St. John Neumann Catholic Church
presents it International Food Festival and Rummage Sale at 7 a.m. Saturday at 4519 Simmons St. The festival includes clothing, household appliances, home decor items, and food from Mexico, Panama, Poland, Korea, the United States and the Philippines. Call 657-0200.
The fourth biennial conference,
Women's Summit 2002: Women at Work in a 24/7 World, will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Stardust's Convention Center. The mission is to educate the women of Nevada and unite them to be a strong voice on issues regarding women and the workplace. Registration is $55; 30 for students. Alexia Vernon, a women's studies student
at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will direct the performance "Women in War," a historical look at how war has impacted women, as part of UNLV's Feminist Praxis. The event is Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Moyer Student Union Grand Ballroom. Admission is free though a $10 donation is suggested to benefit the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan. Low interest loans
are now available to disabled Nevadans for "assistive technology" and independent living items. Loans are made to maintain or improve independence -- from prosthetics to medical equipment, computers, specialized furniture, home modifications, vehicles and lifts.
