Awards will cite neighbors who make a difference

Clark County, the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson and the state's Family Resource Centers are teaming up to honor residents who make a difference in their neighborhoods.

The Neighborhood Congress Steering Committee is accepting nominations for the 2002 Impact Awards, established four years ago.

The award committee is seeking projects that demonstrate an effort to revitalize a targeted neighborhood. Projects may include arts and cultural activities, human or social service, youth, conservation, economic development, beautification, restoration, housing, neighborhood improvement, health, environment, education and safety.

Nominations are due by Thursday at 5 p.m.

Award winners will be announced at a luncheon during the fourth annual Neighborhood Congress on May 18.
