Vegas union charter revoked

Some 1,300 Las Vegas members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employes Local 720 are now represented by the New York-based International union after their local's charter was revoked Monday.

The general executive board of IATSE said it revoked the union's charter after a hearing in Las Vegas on March 20 of charges brought by Local 720 members against the union. The allegations include a breakdown in the democratic process, lack of organizing and non-compliance with the IATSE constitution.

IATSE said it will shortly be creating a Las Vegas advisory board that will comprise members of the defunct local union to help run the union.
