Letter: Crack down on out-of-state tags

The state is crying "no money" again. It claims it is due to a shortfall in tax revenues.
If we are always short, why did someone mandate a new license plate to replace the perfectly good ones we had? And why did they also reissue "blue" plates so that a few can keep their status symbol?
Every day I see cars without Nevada tags. I even see some with expired out-of-state tags. I even see some with no tags at all. I look to see if the out-of-state cars have military stickers, but most don't. Why don't we catch these scofflaws?
The police could cruise through apartments and single-family neighborhoods and take down out-of-state license numbers. Then someone at the station could run the numbers, and then call the people to find out why they have non-Nevada tags.
