Ruth G. Alarid

Ruth G. Alarid, 89, of Henderson died Monday in Boulder City. She was born Nov. 14, 1912, in Jasper, Ala. A resident for 60 years, she was a retired hotel gift shop manager.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Alarid; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Joseph C. Barter

Joseph C. Barter, 84, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local health care center. He was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Los Angeles. A resident for six years, he was a retired electrical engineer for a chemical company.

He is survived by three daughters, Jo Lynn Buell of Weston, Ore., Ruby Black of Henderson and Ellen Petrich of Altadena, Calif.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A tribute to life will be 4-5 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

John Joseph Berry

John Joseph Berry, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 10 years, he was a mechanic with the Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta Ludwig; three daughters, Catherine Ciatteo and Bernice Boyle, both of Pennsylvania, and Diann Asklar of Florida; one sister, Elizabeth Hurt of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John Binchi Jr.

John Binchi Jr., 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 21, 1930, in Ridgewood, N.J. A resident for six months, he was a retired dry cleaner and a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sons, John Binchi III of Norco, Calif., and Jay C. of West Garden Grove, Calif.; two daughters, Beth Lane of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Elayna Hall of Cypress, Calif.; three sisters, Cecelia Loder of Las Vegas, Ruth CoFrancesco of Hamburg, N.J., and Maria CoFrancesco of Passaic, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.

Ruth Brunelle, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Rome, N.Y. A resident for 1 1/2 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Ladies Elks, Glens Falls Hospital Guild, St. Mary's Choir in Glens Falls and various senior citizens groups.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen Lavarnway of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Linda Faso and Joanne Crisci, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Jane Packard of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Filemon C. Canchela

Filemon C. Canchela, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 22, 1917, in the Philippines. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired coffee shop owner and World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Estela C. Manahan of California and Visitacion C. Tan of the Philippines.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Sunday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Bryan Cope

Bryan Cope, 51, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 7, 1950, in Sun Valley, Idaho. A resident for 20 years, he was a dental lab technician.

He is survived by his mother, Clara E. Cope of Springdale, Utah; two brothers, Frank T. Cope of Cortez, Colo., and Darren Cope of Virgin, Utah; and four sisters, Claire Linn Ellis of Coarsegold, Calif., Loya M. Warnick and Fay Cope, both of Springdale, and Vicki V. Heaton of Cedar City, Utah.

Robert Cravotta

Robert Cravotta, 64, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for six years, he was an insurance salesman and past president of the Las Vegas Jazz Society.

He is survived by his fiancee, Janene Crow of Las Vegas; two sons, Scott Cravotta of Las Vegas and Jason "Jake" Cravotta of Rochester; two sisters, Diane Nuccitelli of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., and Mary Ellen Cravotta of Rochester; and one brother, Louis Cravotta of Vernon, N.J.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Maylois H. Davies

Maylois H. Davies, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born May 18, 1913, in Evans, Colo. A resident for 25 years, she was a secretary in the aviation field, director of the Las Vegas Art Museum and a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by three daughters, Gwen Ferrell of Las Vegas, Gretchen Jones of Reno and Katherine Baldwin of Fallon; two sons, Charles E. Davies of Hesperia, Calif., and Richard R. Davies of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Leroy Dreibelbis

Leroy Dreibelbis, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Hastings, Neb. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired construction superintendent, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He is survived by his wife, Santa; one son, David Dreibelbis, and one daughter, Cindy Gunter, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday with a noon service in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Warren Russell Driver Jr.

Warren Russell Driver Jr., 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 26, 1923, in Trenton, N.J. A resident for 13 years, he was a supervisor at an electronics firm, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the Versatilians of Los Angeles.

He is survived by two sons, Warren R. Driver Jr. of La Habra Heights, Calif., and David L. Driver of Las Vegas; three daughters, Patricia B. Melvin and Amini K. Sababu, both of Trenton, and April Felisbret of Las Vegas; one sister, Barbara E. O'Neal of Summerville, N.J.; 11 grandchildren and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Frances Elliott

Frances Elliott, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local health care center. She was born May 5, 1923, in Cairo, Ky. A resident for 23 years, she was a retired medical technician and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia B. Elliott of Lincoln, Neb.

Visitation is private. Graveside services will be noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Joaquin Garcia, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday. He was born Aug. 16, 1919, in Cuba. A resident for 24 years, he was a custodian and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by one son, Antonio Garcia of Las Vegas; three daughters, Miriam Benitez and Nancy Johnson, both of Las Vegas, and Vivian Johnson of Wyoming; three brothers, Clemente Garcia Jr. and Armando Garcia, both of Cuba, and Bebo Garcia of Florida; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Kimberly Gautier and Anthony Scott Gautier

Mother and son, Kimberly Gautier, 38, and Anthony Scott Gautier, 15, of Las Vegas died April 4 in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 1, 1963, in Bell, Calif. He was born Aug. 19, 1986, in Las Vegas. A resident for 20 years, she was a manicurist.

They are survived by Greg Gautier, husband and father; Michelle Gautier, daughter and sister; Christopher Gautier, son and brother; Kimberly's mother, Margaret of California; her father and stepmother, Jerry and Ella Breclaw of Las Vegas; Anthony's paternal grandparents, Peggy and Rick Traschetti, Anthony's sister, Kelly Gautier, and two brothers, Gregory Gautier and Michael Gautier, all of Las Vegas; she is also survived by her three sisters, Patricia of Boulder, Colo., Sherri of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Brenda Hicks of Las Vegas; and her stepbrother, Craig Castleberry of Boulder City.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday for Anthony at J.D. Smith Middle School. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday for Anthony in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling all arrangements.

Richard J. Giorouard

Richard J. Girouard, 67, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Fitchburg, Mass. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired custodian, a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Maryanne "Betty"; four daughters, Jane M. Elliott of Leominster, Mass., Donna Lee Girouard of Winchendon, Mass., Terry Anne Vallee of Antelope, Calif., and Susan R. Wright of San Antonio; two sons, Michael R. Girouard of Leominster and Rick J. Girouard of Las Vegas; and nine grandchildren.

Services and burial were scheduled April 9. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Carla Rae Jewell

Carla Rae Jewell, 56, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born Sept. 12, 1945, in Los Angeles. A resident for 15 years, she was a seamstress and homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Kirk Jewell of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cassy Jewell, one brother, Darrell Brook, and one sister, Judy Kirkpatrick, all of California; and one granddaughter.

Jane M. Kehlert

Jane M. Kehlert, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Woodbridge, N.J. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired bank manager.

She is survived by two sons, Christopher Kehlert of Las Vegas and Jeffrey Kehlert of Ringoes, N.J.; one sister, Patricia Carter of Cedar Edge, Colo.; one brother, John Cargill of Haddonfield, N.J.; and one grandchild.

Knud Edward Michaelsen

Knud Edward Michaelsen, 88, of Orange, Calif., died Monday in Orange. He was born July 6, 1913, in Denmark. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a salesman, a Las Vegas school crossing guard and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two nieces, Leigh-Ann Levy and Sharon Ahrenberg; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Omega Society, Santa Ana, Calif., is handling arrangements.

Jerry L. Moore Sr.

Jerry L. Moore Sr., 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born July 10, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas. A resident for one month, he was a retired service station owner-operator.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Jerry Moore Jr. of Sacramento and Johnnie Whitehead of Modesto, Calif.; one daughter, Debra Partridge of Las Vegas; two brothers, Dozie Williams and Albert Moore, both of Sacramento; six sisters, Doris Valdry and Gwen Hubbard, both of Sacramento, Annette Day, Ava Moore and Joyce Foreman, all of Oakland, Calif., and Janice Moore of Berkeley, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Elaine H. Okamura, 88, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a care center. She was born March 7, 1914, in Hawaii. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter; three sons; three brothers; one sister; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Edward Roman

Edward Roman, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A veteran, he was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Connecticut.

He is survived by two brothers, George Roman of Arizona and Joe Roman of Indiana.

Karter F. Rowley

Karter F. Rowley, 40, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 16, 1961, in Laramie, Wyo. A resident for 30 years, he was an electrician.

He is survived by two sons, Brandon Forsythe and Dallas Lee; two daughters, Donovon Heather Rowley and Alexsandra Shree; one stepdaughter, Nichole Jo-Nel Cooper; one brother, Kyle F. Rowley of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Kim Johnston of Las Vegas and Koni Nelson of Moses Lake, Wash.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; one daughter, Theresa O'Very; four sons, Danny Sainz, Mark Fiore, Joseph Fiore and Anthony Mancuso; his parents, Victorino and Epimenia Sainz; one brother, Robert Sainz; one sister, Mary E. Weight; one sister, Mary E. Weight; and seven grandchildren.

John Scoggins, 74, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born May 19, 1927, in Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Antonette; two daughters, Elizabeth Peraza and Carrie Schlossor; one brother, Willie Wolfenden; and one sister, Pat Hartley.

Thelma M. Scott

Thelma M. Scott, 96, of Henderson died Sunday in a local health care center. She was born Jan. 10, 1906, in Salt Lake City. A resident for two years, she was a retired supply technician for a medical center.

She is survived by two sons, Harry Mock of Corvalis, Ore., and Merle Mock of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Gladene M. Short

Gladene M. Short, 79, of Las Vegas died April 4 in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Kaufman, Texas. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Rodman Short of Las Vegas; and one cousin, Joy L. Potts of Texas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Theresa Julia Singer

Theresa Julia Singer, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 4, 1918, in New York City. A resident for 50 years, she was a hairdresser.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherie Koch of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until noon services Saturday in the LDS Tropicana chapel. Interment will follow in Eden Vale Mausoleum. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Walter Wax

Walter Wax, 87, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Newark, N.J. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired financial adviser, a member of the New York City Musician's Union and the Fort Lee, N.J., Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie; two daughters, Susan Wax of Montecito, Calif., and Dianna Greene of Henderson; one son, Terry Greene of Las Vegas; one sister, Tenny Engel of Clarke, N.J.; one brother, Harold Wax of Boca Raton, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Friday in Mission Hills, Calif. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Stephen J. Wilk

Stephen J. Wilk, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born in Detroit. A resident for eight years, he was a food server at the Olive Garden.

He is survived by two brothers, David Wilk of Hazel Park, Mich., and Brian Wilk of Warren, Mich.; and one sister, Audra J. Danzak of Las Vegas.

Frank Leroy Wooldridge

Frank Leroy Wooldridge, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 18, 1919, in Seattle. A resident for nine years, he was a retired Forest Service firefighter, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Jewish War Veterans, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Daylite Masonic Lodge 44 and a member of Keystone Kops clowns for the Zelzah Shrine Temple.

He is survived by one daughter, Charlene Marie Wooldridge of Cypress, Calif.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Norbert John Young Jr.

Norbert John Young Jr., 29, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 16, 1972, in Marinette, Wis. A resident for 16 1/2 years, he was a concrete cutter.

He is survived by his companion, Robin Meloy, and three daughters, Summer Rose Young, Winter Ray Young and Autumn Rose Meloy, all of Las Vegas; his parents, Norbert John and Kathryn Lynn Young of Menominee, Mich.; one brother, Patrick Allen Mayville, and two sisters, Laura Jones and Mary Price, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be in Michigan.
