Antique Car Museum opens Wednesday

The St. Jude's Ranch for Children Antique Car Museum will celebrate its grand opening at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 100 St. Jude St., Boulder City.

The car museum will feature world-class automobiles such as a 1929 Duesenberg J Coupe, a 1932 Packard Custom Roadster, a 1929 Isotta-Fraschini Roadster, a 1931 Chrysler Towncar originally belonging to Walter P. Chrysler, an original, bulletproof and armor-plated Popemobile used by Pope John Paul II, Clark Cable's 1941 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, a 1909 Thomas Flyer and more.

Seniors group plans counseling session

A Medicare counseling class will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday by the Sunrise Senior Friends, 3101 S. Maryland Parkway.

Volunteer counselors will help people sort through the their medical bills, co-pays, deductibles and forms.

Hikes and walks tailored for all

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes and walks free of charge, but reservations are required for all programs, which begin at the Visitors Center.

"Pine Creek and Beyond," a 4 1/2 mile moderately strenuous hike to the South Fork above Pine Creek.

Join staffer Elizabeth on the "High Noon Hikes," a 2 1/2 mile moderate hike.

Council to hold public meeting Thursday

The Nevada Fire Safe Council will hold a public meeting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Learning Center, 2590 Lindell Road.

The council's mission is to improve the survivability of communities at high risk from forest and rangeland fires by organizing local chapters to reduce hazardous fuels and improve firefighting capabilities.

Annual event will take place Saturday

The annual MS Walk will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. for the 9 a.m. Saturday walk at the Howard Hughes Center, 3800 Howard Hughes Parkway.

The Las Vegas Walk is part of the MS Walks national fund-raising effort. Free lunches will be provided to all who participate. The MS Walks lets people come together with friends and family to make a difference.

All who are pre-registered and have raised $75 or more in pledges will also receive a free MS Walk T-shirt.

Health fair, variety of seminars on tap

The Las Vegas Black Expo 2002 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cashman Center , Exhibit Halls A and B, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The event will feature exhibits, business networking, home buyers and health fair with free screenings and informative seminars, arts and crafts, entertainment and food.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ball scheduled

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society presents it "Hope is Eternal" Ball at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Suncoast's Grand Ballroom.

The event will include a reception, dinner, dancing, a silent auction, entertainment and an awards ceremony honoring local supporters of the Society.
