Jerry Tarkanian, who retired at the end of this season as Fresno State basketball coach, holds a basketball with signatures of state lawmakers that was presented to him by Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson, D-Culver City, and Assemblywoman Sarah Reyes, D-Fresno, during ceremonies honoring Tarkanian Monday at the Capitol in Sacramento. Tarkanian, 71, finished with a career record of 778-202. Before coming to Fresno State in 1995, Tarkanian coached at UNLV, where his team won the NCAA title in 1990.
