Nevada’s McIntyre WAC baseball player of week

RENO, Nev. AP) - Nevada first baseman JaRell McIntyre, who had six consecutive hits last week, was named the Western Athletic Conference baseball player of the week.

McIntyre, a senior from Elko Grove, Calif., hit .538 (7 (13)- in three games last week against Hawaii, driving in one run and scoring four. His six consecutive hits stretched over the first and second games to help raise his season batting average to .278.

San Jose State right-hander Matt Durkin was named the WAC's pitcher of the week. The freshman from San Jose improved to 5-1 on the season, allowing one run and nine hits while striking out 10 in a 2-1 victory over Rice.
