Leroy Augustus Badie

Leroy Augustus Badie, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in New Orleans. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired casino assistant shift manager.

He is survived by one daughter, Shirley McKennery of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Michael Allen Cargill

Michael Allen Cargill, 50, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born April 29, 1951, in Bakersfield, Calif. A resident for four years, he was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Operating Engineers Local 12 for 25 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Cameo Stancliff and Athena Cargill, both of Henderson, and Tamara Hernandez of Brentwood, Calif.; two sisters, Judi Lee of Arlington, Texas, and Yvonne Mailloux of Sacramento; one brother, Andy Porter of Oildale, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Catherine M. D'Amora

Catherine M. D'Amora, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 8, 1947, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired federal government claims representative.

She is survived by seven sisters, Rosemarie Isabella, Elizabeth Slocum, Teresa Reynolds, Jean D'Amora and Donna McCamish, all of Las Vegas, and Susan O'Reilly and Nancy Palmateer, both of Henderson; and two brothers, James D'Amora and John D'Amora, both of Las Vegas.

A memorial service was scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Robert R. Early

Robert R. Early, 69, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Dallas. A resident for three years, he was a retired pipefitter, a Korean War Navy veteran, a member of Plumbers Local 57 in Salt Lake City and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Fairy; one son, Jeffrey Cox of Salt Lake City; one daughter, Tamara Jacobs of San Diego; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Ethel 'Pauline Estep

Ethel "Pauline" Estep, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born March 9, 1921, in Uniontown, Pa. A resident for nine years, she was a retired second cook.

She is survived by her husband, Howard; two daughters, Patricia Ann Spencer and Gloria Jean Estes, both of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sons, Leslie Perkins of Richmond, Va., and Daniel Perkins of Ocean Grove, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Theresa Flanagan

Theresa Flanagan, 82, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born March 28, 1920, in New York. A resident for 12 years, she was an executive secretary in the motion picture industry.

She is survived by one nephew, John Reeder of Amsterdam, Holland.

Iris Fuentes

Iris Fuentes, 55, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 17, 1946, in San Jose, Calif. A resident for seven years, she was a chocolate factory supervisor.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; one son, Eric Valerio-Espino, and one daughter, Andrea Lopez, both of Henderson; two stepsons, Gilbert Fuentes and Anthony Fuentes, both of Manteca, Calif.; her mother and stepfather, Gomesinda and Claudio Caballero of San Jose, Calif. two stepsisters, two stepbrothers, two half-sisters, and one half-brother, all of California.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Esther Gerard

Esther Gerard, 65, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. She was born April 23, 1936, in Treece, Kan. A resident for 54 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph Gerard Jr. of Henderson and Darrell Gerard of Las Vegas; her mother, Maxine M. Thompson, one sister, Shirley Reilly, and three brothers, Richard B. Thompson, Kenneth Thompson and Paul Thompson, all of Henderson; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until a 2:30 p.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Sadie Bell Griffin

Sadie Bell Griffin, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 58 years, she was a retired hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Eunice Claxton of Las Vegas; one brother, Howard Claxton of Tallulah; one sister, Lillie C. Knox of Los Angeles; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Kathryn Jean Groom

Kathryn Jean Groom, 29, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. A resident for 12 years, she was born June 21, 1972, in Honolulu and participated in Opportunity Village's PRIDE Program in Henderson.

She is survived by her parents, John and Sharron Groom, and one sister, Sharri Williams, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Helen Kawazoe

Helen Kawazoe, 86, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born April 12, 1915, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Moy and Carol Kawazoe, and one son, Lynn Kawazoe, all of Las Vegas; one stepdaughter, Ruth Rauskin of Sun City, Ariz.; one stepson, Robert Kawazoe of Oklahoma; one sister, Grace Yuge of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 3 p.m. until a 5 p.m. memorial service today in The Lakes Lutheran Church, 8200 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Herman J. Kopp

Herman J. Kopp, 87, of Las Vegas died March 24 in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Richardton, N.D. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by two brothers, Edmund A. Kopp of Las Vegas and Leonard G. Kopp of Tigard, Ore.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Joyce LeMaster

Joyce LeMaster, 77, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born July 30, 1924, in Wabeno, Wis. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired grocery cashier.

She is survived by two daughters, LaRae Peterson of Las Vegas and Sandy Sandoval of Sandy Valley; one sister, DeLoyce Conway of Crandon, Wis.; one brother, Robert LeMaster of Moline, Ill.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Claude R. Lovaglio

Claude R. Lovaglio, 67, of Las Vegas died March 29 in Las Vegas. He was born April 27, 1934, in Paris. A resident for 14 years, he was a Marine Corps veteran, an aircraft maintenance technician for America West and had also worked for Pan Am for 27 years in New York and was a member of Veterans Motor Car Club of America-High Rollers Chapter.

He is survived by his wife, Diane.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Alan Kennern Moore

Alan Kennern Moore, 77, of Las Vegas died March 27 in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 17 years, he was a restaurateur, author, entrepreneur and World War II Navy veteran who earned 11 Bronze Stars.

He is survived by one daughter, Holly Plattner of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three sisters, Jeanne Mencani of Sacramento and Kay Moore and Lyn Moore, both of Denver.

No local services are scheduled. Services will be in Denver. Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling arrangements.

Douglas J. Moore

Douglas J. Moore, 44, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 18, 1957, in Miami. A resident for 42 years, he was a cutter and salesman for a sewing manufacturer.

He is survived by three brothers, Arnold Moore, Barry Moore and Curtis Moore, all of Las Vegas.

Carrie Genell Roberts, 37, of Las Vegas died March 23 in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 24, 1964, in San Francisco. A resident for 35 years, she was a hospital nurse.

She is survived by one brother, David Carlton Roberts of Palm Springs, Calif.

Jon D. Sells

Jon D. Sells, 49, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio. A resident for four years, he was a scaffolder in the construction industry and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Bricki Jo McNulty of Reedley, Calif.; one son, Jon Clark Sells of Danville, Wash.; his mother, Marjorie M. Sells of Las Vegas; his father, Jack D. Creath of Lawrence, Kan.; and two sisters, Michele Lynne Rendon of Phoenix and Kimberly Jaye Sells of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

The Rev. Melvin W. Steward

The Rev. Melvin W. Steward, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday. He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Savannah, Ga. A resident for 28 years, he was pastor of Trinity Temple from 1974 to 1984 and associate pastor at Calvary Community Church since 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons, Pastor Stan Steward and Brent Steward, and two daughters, Sharon Johnson and Karie Clark, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Stanley Steward of Merlin, Ore.; one sister, Margaret O'Dell of Lakeside, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. today and 1-5 p.m. Saturday followed by a 2 p.m. service Sunday at Calvary Community Church, 2900 N. Torrey Pines Drive. Leon Thompson, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 22, 1917, in Louisiana. A resident for many years, he was a railroad laborer.

He is survived by one son, James Thompson of Las Vegas.

Mary E. Vukasin

Mary E. Vukasin, 84, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Lewistown, Mont. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired country-western nightclub owner-operator.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Vukasin of Las Vegas and Jerry Vukasin of Great Falls, Mont.; one daughter, Mary Ann Vukasin Barnakoff of Hillsboro, Ore.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
