National tournament to be held at Harrah’s

The country's top amateur pool players will take their next shot for the chance to win $1 million in the Canadian Club Sharpshooter Challenge National Finals starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Harrah's Hotel. It concludes one of the country's largest amateur 8-ball tournaments that began in September, with more than 500 local events and 20,000 players.

The 48 players advanced to the finals by first winning their local events and then placing as one of the top two players at one of the 24 regional tourneys.

The national champion will receive $5,000 and the chance to take the Canadian Club Million Dollar Shot -- sink the eight ball off the break.
