Truman A. Barstow

Truman A. Barstow, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Torrington, Conn. A resident for four years, he was a retired Navy captain, World War II veteran and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by two sons, Lance P. Barstow of Las Vegas and Cartis H. Barstow of New Hampshire; one daughter, Marjorie Cox of Massachusetts; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Leila Dene Black-Taylor

Leila Dene Black-Taylor, 59, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. She was born March 17, 1943, in St. George, Utah. A lifelong resident, she was a retired hospital licensed practical nurse.

She is survived by one son, Paul L. Black, and her parents, Palma and Lew Black, all of Henderson; two brothers, Calvin L. Black of Henderson and H. Andrew Black of Sacramento; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Thursday in the LDS Ocean Street Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David G. Brown

David G. Brown, 40, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1961, in Chicago. A resident for 22 years, he was a field operations manager at Nevada Power.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya; two sons, David Michael Brown and Jonathan Peter Brown, his parents, George and Lois Brown, and one sister, Nancy Gardner, all of Las Vegas; and one brother, G. Robert Brown of Oak Harbor, Wash.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Abner Bustamante

Abner Bustamante, 17, of Amargosa Valley died Saturday in Amargosa Valley. He was born Aug. 10, 1984, in Las Vegas. He was a student at Beatty High School.

He is survived by his parents, Jesus and Marie Bustamante of Amargosa Valley; and two sisters, Laruhama "Netividad" Garcia of Amargosa Valley and Alejandra Carbard of El Paso.

Visitation is scheduled 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Episcopal church in Amargosa. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, is handling arrangements.

Arthur G. Cox

Arthur G. Cox, 65, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 13, 1936, in Cortland, N.Y. A resident for 44 years, he was a retired retail sales clerk and Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; one daughter, Christine Davenport of Las Vegas; one son, Arthur W. Cox of Texas; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Edythe Erlan

Edythe Erlan, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Pomona, Calif. A resident for 26 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Jay G. Erlan of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Henry Arthur Fisher

Henry Arthur Fisher, 91, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 30, 1910, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired Air Force veteran.

He is survived by two nieces, Beth Giottonini and Pauline Curnow; and two nephews, Steve Gross and Marty Gross.

Phyllis A. Hannon

Phyllis A. Hannon, 57, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 21, 1944, Las Vegas. A resident for many years, she was a hotel reservation clerk.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Hannon of Las Vegas.

Jennie M. Hardy

Jennie M. Hardy, 85, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born June 30, 1916, in Bloomington, Idaho. A resident for 59 years, she was a retired hospital registered nurse.

She is survived by one son, James O'Neill of Mississippi; two stepsons, William Hardy and Thomas Hardy, both of Las Vegas; three stepdaughters, Madelyn Schneider and Mary Alice Greenhalgh, both of Las Vegas, and Carolyn Holland of Henderson; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services are private. Burial will be in Bunkers' Eden Vale Mausoleum. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

John W. Hudec III

John W. Hudec, 54, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Nov. 28, 1947, in Middletown, Conn. A resident for 24 years, he was a convention runner and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Jose Hudec, one daughter, Stephanie Hudec, and one brother, Tom Hudec, all of Las Vegas.

Joseph Inamine

Joseph Inamine, 78, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Hawaii. A resident for 42 years, he was a retired postal carrier and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Brandon, Fla.; and two stepdaughters, Yvette Baracao of Indianapolis and Vivian Elwell of Brandon.

Patrick Kelley

Patrick Kelley, 30, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 10, 1971, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a vice president of communications.

He is survived by his parents, Virginia and Michael Kelley of Las Vegas; one brother, Michael Kelley Jr. of Pasadena, Calif.; and his companion, Alida Smith of Las Vegas.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by graveside services in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., handled arrangements.

Robert J. Lace

Robert J. Lace, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Chicago. A resident for four years, he was a retired painter and Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Sally Ann Watts of Houston; three sons, Timothy D. Lace of Chicago, Daniel J. Lace of Sugar Creek, Kan., and Patrick J. Lace of Houston; one sister, Mary Eileen Boldis of Gadsen, Ala.; two brothers, Edward Lace of Wilmette, Ill., and William Lace of Lady Lake, Fla.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Loren D. Maurer

Loren D. Maurer, 52, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1949, in Long Beach, Calif. A Las Vegas resident for 40 years, he was a service technician on spas and a Vietnam War Navy and Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Karen L.; two sons, Erik Maurer of Denver and Bret Maurer of Las Vegas; two brothers, Michael Byrd of California and David Maurer of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Danette Studebaker and Deann Bradshaw, both of Henderson; three stepsons, Don Studebaker, Darrin Studebaker and David Studebaker, and two sisters, Leslie Lucero and Cathy Fielding, all of Las Vegas; two stepbrothers, John Maurer and Keith Maurer; one stepsister, Joyce Busho; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 3:20 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mattie Elaine McBroom

Mattie Elaine McBroom, 87, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Eldorado, Okla. A resident for many years, she was a retail saleswoman.

She is survived by one daughter, Lillian Wasson of Wichita, Kan.

Leonard Jack Mcfarland

Leonard Jack Mcfarland, 80, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born May 29, 1921, in Oklahoma City. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired purchasing agent, a World War II and Korean War Marine Corps and Air Force veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753 in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three daughters, all of Oklahoma; one stepson, Joseph Cannon of Barstow, Calif.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 12:40 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Robert M. Miller

Robert M. Miller, 65, of Boulder City died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa. A resident for 2 1/2 years, he retired as an electrician from the federal government and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 13 years.

He is survived by his wife, Candace; three daughters, Beth Aaberg of Vancouver, Wash., DiAnn Wensing of Waterloo, Ill., and Kathleen Redmond of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Robert Miller Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, and Saul Abel of Bothell, Wash.; two brothers, James Miller of Henderson and Cecil Miller Jr. of Lebanon, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson

Franklin Kerwin Morlan

Franklin Kerwin Morlan, 76, of Las Vegas died March 21 in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Illinois. A resident for many years, he was a carpet layer and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Beate; one daughter, Linda Lawson of Illinois; and one son, Lucas Morlan.

Graveside services will be 2:40 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Alex Ortiz

Alex Ortiz, 16, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born March 11, 1986, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico. A resident for 13 years, he was a Desert Pine High School student and active in Junior ROTC.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Pabon, his father, Jorge Ortiz, and two sisters, Jeanette Ortiz and Kayla Ortiz, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and 8-9 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Catherine F. Roach, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Boise, Idaho. She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Richmond, Va. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired registered nurse and a World War II Army nurse.

She is survived by four daughters, Ann Marie Allsopp of Bethel Park, Pa., Mary Jennings of Vandenburg, Calif., Pauline Harker of Boise and Frances Hurley of Idaho Falls, Idaho; four sons, William Roach Jr. of Spring, Texas, Andrew Roach of Franklin, Idaho, Patrick Roach of Texas City, Texas, and Michael Roach of Idaho Falls; two sisters, Ann Hughes of Richmond, Va., and Tine Saulnier of Fitchburg, Va.; 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Thomas D. Shoemaker, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1934, in Jamestown, N.Y. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired owner-operator of a bottled water company.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; one son, Steven Shoemaker of Las Vegas; and three brothers, John Shoemaker of Jamestown, Russell Shoemaker of Utah and Marvin Shoemaker of Las Vegas.

Dorothy A. Tate

Dorothy A. Tate, 86, of Surprise, Ariz., died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 5, 1915, in Denver. A former Las Vegas resident for 20 years, she was a retired meat wrapper.

She is survived by her husband, Rocco; one daughter, Claudine Brotsky of Surprise; and one son, Tom Tate of Denver.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Guardian Angel Cathedral, 302 E. Desert Inn Road, followed by graveside services in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Harry F. Wallace III

Harry F. Wallace III, 54, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 5, 1947, in Kodiak, Alaska. A resident for 33 years, he retired in 2000 after 31 years with city of Las Vegas Public Works and was a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marie "Chip"; two sons, Robert Eugene and Christopher Michael, both of Las Vegas; two daughters, Jennifer Lee Clarke of Las Vegas and Kimberly Ann Abbott of Overton; three brothers, David Wallace of Baltimore, John Wallace of Las Vegas and William Wallace of Encino, Calif.; one sister, Patricia Raine of Atascadero, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 5701 N. Jones Blvd.

Michael Washington, 40, of Las Vegas and Sacramento died Thursday in Sacramento. He was born Jan. 26, 1962, in Morristown, Tenn. A resident for 10 years, he was a busboy at Pizza Hut.

He is survived by his father, Michael of Tennessee; his mother, Martha Washington Senter, and one brother, Christopher, both of Las Vegas.

Russell L. Wells

Russell L. Wells, 66, of North Las Vegas died Thursday. He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in New York. A resident for two years, he was a computer technician and a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mitsu Wells of North Las Vegas; and one sister, Nancy Fukushima of Georgia.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Thursday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Michael Young

Michael Young, 53, of Pahrump died Wednesday in Pahrump. He was born Feb. 23, 1949, in California. A resident for six years, he was self-employed.

He is survived by one daughter, Joann Young of California; his mother, Mary Lou Young of Pahrump; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Grandview Cemetery. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, is handling arrangements.
