Family sues drivers
The parents of a 16-year-old boy killed in a traffic accident have sued the driver of the vehicle he was in and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash.
Gary Horky and Deborah Horky allege their son, Ryan, died as the result of negligence on the part of Damon Ross Wong and Clifford Troy Ulberg.
According to police, Wong was driving a vehicle with five other teenagers when his vehicle and a tractor-trailer driven by Ulberg collided at Green Valley Parkway and Robindale Road about 12:50 a.m. May 20, 2001.
Also named in the lawsuit are Rose Rossi, the owner of the Wong vehicle, Damon Ross Wong's mother, Annette Wong, and Knight Transportation Midwest, the owner of the Ulberg vehicle.
Attorneys want bail cut
Attorneys for a Las Vegas man accused of fatally beating another man with bricks in January want his bond reduced, saying there is "zero" chance he will be convicted of murder.
Deputy Special Public Defender Alzora Jackson told District Judge Sally Loehrer that Usman Sadiq, 19, has a "very, very, very strong case for self-defense" and his bail should be reduced significantly from its current $100,000.
Jackson also told Loehrer that Sadiq is suffering from injuries caused during the incident, but cannot receive adequate medical care in the Clark County Detention Center.
