Ash Meadows restoration planned
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking volunteers from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge to plant trees.
Volunteers will restore and re-create historic suitable habitat for the endangered Ash Meadows Amargosa pupfish and the threatened Amargosa naucorid (an aquatic insect).

Benefit luncheon on tap Saturday
The Empty Bowl Benefit, a luncheon and auction, will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Green Valley High School's cafeteria, 460 Arroyo Grande Blvd., Henderson, to benefit food programs helping the poor and homeless of Southern Nevada.
A lunch of soup and bread will be served in handmade bowls. Each attendee will select their own unique ceramic bowl made by members and friends of the Nevada Clay Guild.
Cost is $12; $10 for children ages 12 and under.
Recreation center to host sleepover
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host "Spring Fling Lock-In," a sleepover for youth in grades 5-8, from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
The event includes a variety of supervised activities, including movies, sports, music, and a scavenger hunt. Snacks and refreshments will also be available, and breakfast will be served the next morning.

Weekend event set at Cheyenne complex
The Silver State Kennel Club will hold its annual Dog Show and Obedience Trial Friday through Sunday at the Cheyenne Sports Complex, 3500 E. Cheyenne Ave.
More than 2,000 dogs with more than 100 breeds will be represented from all over the Western United States and Canada. Vendors will provide a variety of dog products for the pampered pet and specific gifts for their owners.

Mountain View Lutheran School
and Preschool will hold its sixth annual fund-raiser at 7 p.m. Friday at Angel Park Golf Club, 100 S. Rampart Blvd. The funds from the event will go toward a new stage lighting and sound system for the school's auditorium.
Sunrise Senior Friends
presents "Healthy Feet Are Happy Feet," a program from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Monday at 3101 S. Maryland Parkway. Stuart Feldman, DPM, will give a general overview of common foot ailments and discuss ways to keep feet healthy and pain-free. For reservations, call 735-5510.
The Nevada Health Care Reform Project
