Police looking into fatal crash

Metro Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident that appears to have been caused by a pickup failing to stop for a red light, police said.

The accident happened at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Torrey Pines Drive. A 2001 Ford Ranger was traveling eastbound on Flamingo and entered the intersection of Torrey Pines on a red light, colliding with a 1996 Chevrolet car, police said.

The 53-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, Lawrence Kramer, was killed in the accident.

Criminal charges have not been filed against the driver of the Ranger, Grady Patty, 22, pending a reconstruction of the collision by Metro's accident investigation detail, police said.
