Letter: Pray, whether or not you believe
Friday, Sept. 28, 2001 | 4:26 a.m.
In the aftermath of the most deadly and concerted terrorist attacks on America, I would like to plead for more prayers, which is also as important as the call for financial and material help. While the latter type of help cannot be given by everybody, prayers can be given by anybody who wishes to do so.
This is one of those rare historic moments when even those who are against prayers, especially in schools, should forget their opposition, even temporarily, for the good of our country that is now undergoing an agonizing period of healing and recovery.
Whether one believes in prayer or not, our country now needs all the help it can get.
