Joel Aller

Joel Aller, 50, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1951, in Kendallville, Ind. A resident for 12 years, he was a control manager for a construction firm.

He is survived by his wife, Eumelia; two sons, Franco Carranza and Patrick Aller, both of Las Vegas; his mother and stepfather, Janith and James Mello of Golden Valley, Ariz.; one sister, Amanda Lowe of Aurora, Ill.; and one brother, Richard Aller of Des Plaines, Ill.

A memorial service will be noon Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to Cub Scout Pack 36, Sunrise Acres Elementary School.

Gene Baker

Gene Baker, 81, of Pahrump died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 11, 1920, in Arkansas. A resident for 10 years, he was a mechanic, a carpenter and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene.

A private burial will be in Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, is handling arrangements.

Helene W. Bean

Helene W. Bean, 76, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 31, 1925, in Redlands, Calif. A resident for nine months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee; and two daughters, Lisa Bean and Susan Bean, both of Redlands.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Redlands. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Wilma L. Boxley

Wilma L. Boxley, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Indianapolis. A resident for two years, she was a clerk for a tobacco company.

She is survived by one brother, Robert Cantrell of Indianapolis; two sisters, Gladys Hudson of Las Vegas and Sharon Cantrell of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Frank W. Casey

Frank W. Casey, 47, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 21, 1954, in Tokyo. A resident for 30 years, he was a Metro Police detective with the abuse and neglect unit for 23 years.

He is survived by his significant other, Delores M. Mau, one daughter, Jennifer A. Casey, and his mother, Mitsue S. Casey, all of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Gloria Rush of Las Vegas and Joyce DelSesto of Phoenix.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Harold M. Colby Jr.

Harold M. Colby Jr., 67, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Pownal, Maine. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired chef, a Korean War Navy veteran, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3848, Disabled American Veterans Black Mountain Chapter 12 and the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine M.; two daughters, Kimanne Colby of Henderson and Catherine M. Crowley of Salisbury, Mass.; two sons, Stephen M. Colby of San Diego and Eldon Colby of Pepperell, Mass.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Kriss A. Drass

Kriss A. Drass, 48, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born March 19, 1953, in Altoona, Pa. A resident for three years, he was a university professor.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Lukemeyer; his mother, Mary Drass, and one brother, Ken Drass, both of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; and two sisters, Joy Maxwell of Washington, D.C., and Vickie Shank of Bethesda, Md.

A memorial service will be held during the week of Oct. 8 at UNLV. Services and burial will be in Hollidaysburg. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Dr. Fred C. Evora

Dr. Fred C. Evora, 72, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 27, 1929, in Manila, Philippines. A resident for nine years, he was a retired civil service physician.

He is survived by his wife, Lois J.; one daughter, Suzanne Kochamba of Studio City, Calif.; two sons, Darryl Evora, M.D. of San Diego and Gary Evora of Kailua, Hawaii; one sister, Elizabeth Valdez of Las Vegas; one brother, Jaime Evora of Manila; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will be private.

Rita Barrett Geiger

Rita Barrett Geiger, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in New York City. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Richard F.; three sons, Richard F. Geiger Jr. of Champaign, Ill., and Paul D. Geiger and Mark R. Geiger, both of Los Angeles; one sister, Joan B. Geiger of Las Vegas; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday in Crossroads Community Church, 6744 Spencer St. Burial will be private. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Afton Graf

Afton Graf, 49, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 19, 1951, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; three sons, Jesse Bennett and Benjamin Bennett, both of Las Vegas, and Michael Bennett of Nevada, Mo.; one daughter, Heidi Bennett of Las Vegas; two sisters, Merada Gregory of Wasilla, Alaska, and Elaine Stinnett of Bakersfield, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Monday in the LDS Lakes Ward chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Edith Guglielmi

Edith Guglielmi, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 17, 1917, in Belleville, N.J. A resident for three years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; one daughter, Elaine Corradino of Las Vegas; one son, Raymond Guglielmi of Cedar Grove, N.J.; one sister, Anna of Nutley, N.J.; two brothers, Michael DeCepoli of Hollywood, Fla., and Sam DeCepoli of Bloomfield, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Stephen Joseph Jackowski

Stephen Joseph Jackowski, 87, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local health care center. He was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Wallingford, Conn. A resident for 22 years, he retired as a cost production controller from Illinois Tool Works after 28 years and was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Judy Jackowski of Franklin Park, Ill.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Anne R. Krys

Anne R. Krys, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born May 25, 1927, in New York City. A resident for seven years, she was retired from the clerical staff of an insurance/financial firm, was a member of Jewish Women's International and City of Hope.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra M. Ashton-Phillips of Los Angeles; two sons, Jeffrey I. Krys of Austin, Texas, and Neal E. Krys of Levittown, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Michael Martin Malek

Michael Martin Malek, 51, of Las Vegas died Monday. He was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Great Falls, Mont. He was a superintendent.

He is survived by one daughter, Nicole Malek of El Cajon, Calif.; one brother, Joe Malek of Roseville, Calif.; and one sister, Debbie Hutcheson of San Diego.

Anna Masella

Anna Masella, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born July 26, 1919, in Elkhart, Ind. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by two sons, Loreto Masella of Las Vegas and Claudio Masella of Laguna, Calif.; one daughter, Rita Lord of Arcadia, Calif.; two brothers, Gianni Macciocchi of Las Vegas and Jack Macciocchi of Lynwood, Calif.; one sister, Vera Petrini of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mattie May Meadows

Mattie May Meadows, 89, of Valencia, Calif., died Thursday in a California care center. She was born Aug. 9, 1912, in Georgia. A former Las Vegas resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the Las Vegas Coin Club, Elks and Moose.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Gallette of Valencia and Marla Meadows of Alabama; one son, Albert Johnson of West Covina, Calif.; one sister, Clara Simmons of Quincy, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Sunday in Palm Memorial Park.

Ernest E. Nixon

Ernest E. Nixon, 82, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. He was born May 13, 1919, in Lomax, Ill. A resident for six years, he was a hospital mechanical engineer, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by one son, Russell Nixon of Boulder City; two brothers, George Nixon and Glen Nixon, both of Lomax; and four sisters, Irene Jones of Lomax, Mary Waddell of Burlington, Iowa, Ethel LaSanda of Chula Vista, Calif., and Helen Haferty of Missouri.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Lomax. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Jeffrey Michael Onie

Jeffrey Michael Onie, 40, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 16, 1961, in Cincinnati.

He is survived by two sisters, Marci Horwitz of Virginia and Julie Wignall of Nevada.

Leona Bell Piazza

Leona Bell Piazza, 92, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. She was born July 25, 1909, in Wymore, Neb. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, Howard Wilson of Billings, Mont., and Carl Newmiller of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

The Rev. Joel Walker Rivers Jr.

The Rev. Joel Walker Rivers Jr., 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 13, 1925, in Santa Barbara, Calif. A resident for 28 years, he was a minister, an Army veteran, a member of Nevada Donor Network, Rotary Club, Champion of Organ Sharing and Clark County Ministerial Association and a volunteer chaplain for Sunrise Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Kitty; three sons, Michael Rivers of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kelley Rivers of North Pole, Alaska, and Lee Rivers of Stockton, Calif.; one daughter, Patti Brim of Westminster, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Central Christian Church, 3415 S. Mojave Road. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

David Stillwagon

David Stillwagon, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born April 3, 1939, in New York City. A resident for three years, he was a retired manager of a security firm and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, David Stillwagon Jr., Robert Stillwagon and Michael Stillwagon, and one daughter, Patricia Topper, all of New York; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Ulah A. Walker

Ulah A. Walker, 81, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Carthage, Ark. A resident for 39 years, she was a housekeeper retired from the Flamingo and Tropicana hotels.

She is survived by three daughters, Mae Kathryn King of Perris, Calif., and Eulah Mae Walker and Helen Ruth Anderson, both of North Las Vegas; two sons, Sam Douglas Walker and Morzell Walker, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Ethel Lea-Collins of Carthage; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 N. H St. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park.

Margaret Ray Zettler

Margaret Ray Zettler, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 10, 1925, in Jerome, Ariz. A resident for 51 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert W.; one daughter, Dorothy Z. Johnston of Las Vegas; one sister, Zelda Brewer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Alonzo Ray of Springerville, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services today in the LDS chapel at Buffalo Drive and Atwood Avenue. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
