In response to John Powers' Sept. 23 letter about personal drug use as being in the nonviolent category: How and where are the drugs manufactured? How many people are robbed and killed every day by people stealing from them for money to keep their habit (which would still be a habit, legal or not)?
How many people trash their lives just to live for the next fix? What do they do for these fixes? How many families are broken because of someone who has a drug as their God?
Just because people like to do a thing should not mean that it should be condoned. Drugs kill, maim, break, destroy and subjugate anyone who uses or distributes them.
