Oscar Goodman Run planned on Saturday
The Oscar Goodman 5K Run and Memory Walk will begin with a run at 8 a.m. Saturday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' McDermott Complex to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Southern Nevada.
The walk will start at 8:30 a.m.
More than 32,000 individuals are coping with Alzheimer's disease in Clark County. Money raised will help provide education, help with respite care, support groups and public awareness. For more information or to register, call 248-2770.
NRA will host free seminar
The National Rifle Association's Refuse to Be a Victim crime prevention seminar will be presented 9 a.m. Saturday at Cashman Cadillac of Las Vegas, 2711 E. Sahara Ave. The program is free.
Participants will learn how to set up physical and psychological barriers to potential dangers, make their home or car as safe as possible and how they carry themselves in public.
Other topics, such as Internet fraud or identity theft will also be discussed.

Volunteers sought on Public Lands Day
Officials at Lake Mead National Recreation Area are asking residents to participate in National Public Lands Day and help clean up the Hemenway Harbor area 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Volunteers should meet at the Hemenway launch ramp.

ACLU plans reading at Clark County Library
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and the American Civil Liberties Union will hold a reading of banned and challenged books 7 p.m. Thursday.
The event will take place in the Clark County Library's large conference room. It was organized in recognition of the Banned Books Week. For more information, call (702) 733-1141.

DESERT BREEZE CLINIC: Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road, noon-4 p.m., Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday. Most immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
