Hikers can learn about bighorn sheep
Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 | 8:48 a.m.
Hikers will learn more about bighorn sheep, and children can pick up tips about reading maps and compasses by taking part in educational programs at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Among the upcoming programs at Red Rock Canyon is the Willow Springs Hike on which bighorn sheep and other wildlife will be discussed. It will be a two-mile, moderately easy hike on Wednesday (age 8 to adult).
On Thursday children will learn to read a map and compass while having fun. No hike involved (age 5-10 and parents).
Hikes and walks are offered free of charge, but reservations are required for all programs, which begin at the Visitors Center. To make reservations or for information call 363-1922.
