Travel woes disrupt Gaming Commission business

Friday, Sept. 21, 2001 | 10:49 a.m.

JACKSON, Miss. -- Air travel problems prompted the Mississippi Gaming Commission to delay discussions on Casino Magic's $35 million renovations.

The project, under way at the Bay St. Louis casino, is scheduled to be completed next year.

The casino's attorney, Dan McDaniel of Jackson, requested a postponement until next month. He said officials with Penn National Gaming couldn't book air travel. Penn National, based in Wyomissing, Pa., owns the Bay St. Louis casino and Boomtown Casino in Biloxi.

The Gaming Commission also postponed hearings for Paul-Son Gaming of Las Vegas, which manufacturers playing tables, and A.C. Coin & Slot Service Co. of Atlantic City. Both companies reported problems getting flights to Jackson this week.
