Park Place pledges money to NY agencies

Park Place has selected two New York agencies to which the company will fulfill a $1 million pledge made last week to victims of terrorist attacks.
Park Place spokeswoman Deborah Munch said Wednesday the New York State's World Trade Center Disaster Relief Fund will receive $500,000, and the New York Firefighters 9-11 Relief Fund will get $500,000.
Park Place operates five Las Vegas resorts.
Other local charitable events for victims of the Sept. 11 disaster:
* Anchor Gaming has made a $500,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
* Students at Keller Middle School have collected $3,000 to help families of fallen firefighters, police and others at the Pentagon.
* Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters have added an extra day to their street corner boot collection efforts. They will collect Thursday through Saturday at Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard South, Nellis and Charleston boulevards, Sunset Road and Eastern Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
* The "Catch a Rising Star" show at the Excalibur is donating proceeds from Sunday's 7:30 p.m. show to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Tickets are $16.95.
* KWNR 95.5-FM and Station Casinos are holding a "Rally for America with Lee Greenwood" 7 p.m. Friday at the Fiesta. Tickets are $17.50.
* The Red Cross will have a donation booth at the "Night of Champions," the final NASCAR points race of the season, 5 p.m Saturday at the Las Vegas motor Speedway.
* The Las Vegas Sun and the Las Vegas Review-Journal will donate all money from newsstand and vendor newspaper sales Saturday to the Police and Firefighters Relief Fund of New York City.
* Globe Salon, 1121 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 130, is holding a cut-a-thon from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
