Letter: Writer should be ashamed
Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 | 9:23 a.m.
John Heple should be ashamed of himself.
At a time when the whole country is talking about uniting and everyone is going through emotional turmoil over all the events of the past week, he wrote a letter in Sunday's Las Vegas Sun that would literally crush the families of the victims on those airplanes.
He fully blames the passengers of the planes for this entire debacle. Is he God? Does he sit in judgment? Without actually being there, how does he know what transpired?
To make the comment that they had their chance at bat and walked away from the plate without taking a swing is ludicrous.
We don't know what chances they took and never will. I hope Mr. Heple is ready to take responsibility for his actions and words, and never finds himself in a situation where he is not able to "take that chance at the bat and walk away from the plate without taking a swing."
