At Lake Mead, excellent fishing for striped bass has been found this week in Las Vegas Bay while largemouth bass are being pulled from deep water in the Overton Arm.
Boaters who have been fishing in the Overton Arm have told Nevada Division of Wildlife creel census clerks that they are catching largemouth bass at depths of between 20 and 60 feet. During the past week a pair of six-pound bass were caught by anglers who were working jigs at around 60 feet.
NDOW creel clerk Walt deMattos said he was unable to check all of the stripers that boaters had brought in at Las Vegas Bay Marina last Monday. All of the boats he checked had 20 or more stripers aboard.
A wide variety of methods are now being used by anglers to catch stripers. Some are casting surface lures while others are jigging and fishing with shad and anchovies.
