Emergency equipment protected

Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001 | 10:12 a.m.

The FBI sent out a bulletin nationwide to fire and police departments warning that fire and other emergency equipment may be targets of terrorist plots.

But the FBI later warned that the information has not been evaluated and may not represent a credible threat.

"We have received no information that tactic would be utilized in the Las Vegas area," said Special Agent Daron W. Borst, FBI Las Vegas office spokesman.

But the Clark County Fire Department issued a notice to its firefighters to make sure all of the trucks were locked when unattended, Steve La-Sky, a Clark County Fire Department spokesman, said.
