Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001 | 10:21 a.m.
Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.
The end of summer Member-Member golf tournament played at the Las Vegas Country Club was a best ball of partners plus alternate nines on the first day of play, with the second being best ball along with combined low net.
In the PGA Flight, Bob McNamara and Bob Manz played brilliantly together and came in with a score of 314.5. To give an idea of how well this pairing combined, Manz shot a 5-under 67 the first day while McNamara fired a scintillating net 61 the second.
Tom Sears and Mike Small placed a distant second at 340.5. Third with 341.5 was the Tom Page/Larry Paluzzi pairing.
Lance Wallin and Cliff Buckley won the Masters Flight with 333. Tommy Martin and Frank DeLee were second at 341.5 while in third spot (345) was the Bruce Ashworth/Coe Power team.
U.S. Open Flight victors were Richard Urdahl and Bill Reagam at 333.5. The Allen Vogel/Johnny Joseph pairing followed with 344 while third went to Don Pitchford and Tom Kummer. Their score was 353.5.
Sandy Singer and Pat Corona won the Ladies British Open Flight with 338.5. Second at 344 was the duo of Carol Oshins/Diane Cohen. Third at 359.5 were Halina Vergiels and Betsy Bell.
There will be two flights (0-30 and 31-60) with daily and overall prizes.
The entry fee is $150 per person. Please call Julie at 396-5883 for information.
