Annual walk for cancer victims planned
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's third annual "Light the Night Walk" will be held 6 p.m. Friday at Sunset Park, Area B, 2601 E. Sunset Road, and 6 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Crest Park, Pavilion B, 4701 N. Durango Drive.
Pre- and post-walk celebrations will be held at both locations and will feature live music and refreshments. Registrations for both walks are from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
"Light the Night" is the society's nationwide evening to walk to commemorate lives touched by cancer. Participants carry flickering red and white balloons along a two to three mile walk within their communities, creating a spirit of fellowship among all who carry them. Cancer survivors hold white balloons, and all other participants carry red balloons.
Individual walkers are welcome, and families and companies are invited to form teams to walk in the event. For more information, call 436-4220.
