October event canceled

An October ExxonMobil meeting that was to bring 9,000 people to Las Vegas has been canceled, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said today.
It was the second-largest event to cancel in Las Vegas after last week's terrorist attack. Late last week, the International Vision Expo West, a convention that was expected to draw 18,000 people to Las Vegas this week, canceled its event at the Sands Expo Center and the Venetian hotel-casino.
ExxonMobil Corp. had planned a corporate meeting, also at the Sands Expo and the Venetian.
The Professional Jeweler Show in Las Vegas, an event that was to bring 6,000 people to the Las Vegas Convention Center Sept. 23-25, has been rescheduled to mid-October.
With the addition of the ExxonMobil cancellation, a total of 11 shows with a combined estimated attendance of 34,000 people have canceled events.
