Letter: Fox trying to shirk burden of lawbreakers

Vicente Fox can't keep people from leaving Mexico in search of a better place to live. That gives his nation a black eye. It is estimated that 3 million people have fled Mexico for a better life here in the United States. It is clear that low wages, an inadequate infrastructure, and a social system that doesn't work are driving people away in droves.

To solve Mexico's image problem he is asking the United States to grant legal status to all of these lawbreakers. That makes the problem go away. This is blasphemy.

What he is really saying is, "Don't bother us with this problem. We don't want to deal with it. We want America to take care of it and accept the burden." There is no good reason for the United States to stand for this nonsense. Make all immigrants follow the law to become citizens.

Any politicians who endorse this idea need to rethink their position. This is a bad idea for everyone concerned.
