Prep football games to be played on Friday

High school football games will go on as scheduled Friday night, Clark County athletic director Larry McKay said Wednesday.
"I think the district felt it would be in the best interest of the student bodies and schools to maintain our schedule," McKay said. "There's no lack of respect for the tragic events, but the district felt it was important to continue with regular school functions, and that includes athletics."
McKay said that Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association executive director Jerry Hughes had been in contact with officials from neighboring states, and that all were planning to conduct Friday night football games.
Two local squads, Foothill and Silverado, are still slated to travel by bus to California for games Friday.
"A lot of the collegiate (postponements) have to do with (air) travel concerns and the danger of having large crowds in stadiums," McKay added.
