Real estate developer Irwin Molasky was honored Wednesday by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for his contributions to southern Nevada's skyline.

Molasky received the Lieder award from UNLV's Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies.

His many projects include Park Towers, a two-tower, 20-story luxury condominium development at Hughes Center. Park Towers has 84 residences with values ranging from $750,000 to more than $5 million.

Molasky is also noted for introducing "big box" retailing to Las Vegas. He built two power centers, a 200,000-square-foot Best on the Boulevard and a 430,000-square-foot Best in the West. A power center is a grouping of "big box" retailers.

Molasky, who built the Boulevard mall, is now involved in the construction of two 500,000-square-foot strip malls, SunMark Plaza in Henderson and Grand Flamingo Center in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.

Molasky is also noted for building Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, the master-planned community of Paradise Palms, seven private golf course communities and the Bank of America Plaza. He also donated a 45-acre property at Flamingo and Maryland Parkway to UNLV for its development.
