Letter: President never intended to keep promises

Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 | 9:36 a.m.

When are the Democrats and most of the media going to realize that the Bush tax cut did exactly what it was intended to do, which is to give Bush perfect cover to renege on campaign promises he never meant to keep?

Now that the tax cut has predictably (to those who have half a brain) eaten up all the surplus, does anybody believe there will be a meaningful prescription drug benefit?

There was never meant to be one in the first place, because the drug companies who tell Bush what to do don't want one!

What's more, Bush was lying through his teeth in the campaign about this and education enhancement, etc.

He never intended to carry through on his promises, except the tax cut, which he knew would conveniently provide an excuse to go back on them.

Give me a president who lies about sex anytime!
