Victim was LV man, 22

A 22-year-old Las Vegas man who died in a rollover accident on Interstate 15 Tuesday night was identified as Daniel R. Romero.

The driver, Tony Hernandez-Banos, 25, of Las Vegas, and Romero were thrown from the pickup after a tire blew out, causing the truck to roll, Nevada Highway Patrol officials said.

Hernandez-Banos was listed in critical condition this morning in University Medical Center.

Slain man is identified

A man who was shot to death in North Las Vegas last week has been identified as 24-year-old Rigoberto Sanchez Cruz.

He was found about 1 a.m. Aug. 27 in the 2100 block of Ellis Street near Lake Mead Boulevard with a gunshot wound in his head. He died the next day at University Medical Center.

No one has been arrested in the slaying.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Las Vegas Police at 633-9111 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.

Bryan to teach at UNLV

Former Sen. Richard Bryan will join the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as an adjunct faculty member teaching political science.

The former Nevada governor who retired from the Senate in January after serving two terms in office, holds a law degree from the University of California, Hastings Law School and is a partner in the local law firm Lionel Sawyer & Collins.

His legal career began as a deputy district attorney before becoming Clark County's first public defender. He was later elected as governor in 1982 and as a senator in 1988.

Bryan will teach congressional politics in the department of political science.
