Extended hours set at two locations
United Blood Services has extended its hours for the next two weeks to avoid a blood shortage and to accommodate donors and provide more appointment times.
These locations will extend their hours to 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday; and 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday:
6930 W. Charleston Blvd.; 3935 E. Charleston; and 601 Whitney Ranch, Henderson.

Preparation classes are scheduled
Educator and community volunteer Toby Rosenbush will facilitate an interactive class on preparing for and observing the upcoming Jewish High Holidays.
The classes will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday and Sept. 24 at the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada, 3909 S. Maryland Parkway.
Cost for the series is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. For more information or to register for the series of two classes, call 794-0090.
Informational meeting planned on Sunday
An informational meeting for the Jewish Home for the Aging of Southern Nevada will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the home of Richard and Doris Aarenau, 1729 S. 15th St.
Jewish Home executives, including Daryl Alterwitz, president, and Jerry Countess, executive director, will share the vision and plans for the facility. Mayor Oscar Goodman will also participate in the presentation.
The mission of the Jewish Home for the Aging is to provide a range of services and programs for the elderly in an environment which enhances and respects Jewish traditions and life. For more information, call 228-0441.

Rabbi Jennifer Weiner
will conduct this year's Selichot program, "Climbing God's Ladder: Angels in Judaism," at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Congregation Ner Tamid, 2761 Emerson Ave. The program will explore Judaism's beliefs about angels and angelology. For more information, call 733-6292.
An adult Jewish variety show
will be presented 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Congregation Ner Tamid, 2761 Emerson Ave. Cost for Jewish Community Centers members is $18 and $22 for non-members. Tickets available by calling the JCC at 794-0090.
A Japanese floral art workshop
will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. To confirm your attendance, call 655-2447.
Young Judaea Youth Groups,
hosted by the Jewish Community Center will begin their 2001-2002 season 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive. The JCC hosts three Young Judaea youth groups for children in third through 12th grades. 794-0090.
