Currently: Fox, a three-year starter at strong safety for the No. 23 Bulldogs, played a part in his team's back-to-back wins over Colorado and Oregon State to open the season, making nine tackles in the two games. A graduate student with a degree in sociology, the Cimarron product has started 27 consecutive games spanning three seasons for Fresno St. The 5-10, 200-pounder earned first-team All-WAC recognition from coaches last season, and entered the 2001 campaign with 211 career tackles and six sacks.
Looking back: An offensive star during his Spartans' career, Fox earned first-team All-Sunset Division honors as a senior after rushing for 1,532 yards, then a school record. Cimarron finished the year with a 7-3 record, losing to Green Valley in the Southern Zone playoffs. Fox also ran track in high school, reaching the state finals in the 4x100 relay as a junior.
