SUN CAPITAL BUREAU

CARSON CITY -- Twelve safety specialists and industrial hygienists from state government will leave Sunday for New York to help with reclamation efforts at the World Trade Center.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has asked states to provide relief and reinforcements to federal workers for a week. The state workers are from the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Enforcement Section.

The Nevada team will assist volunteers with respiratory fit testing and train people on how to wear and maintain their respirators. The group will be sampling and monitoring air quality and will also advise construction workers and others on safety issues.
