UNLV’s Schneiter gains tourney’s fourth round

UNLV senior Thomas Schneiter won twice Thursday to move into the fourth round of the Omni Hotels Western Regional Men's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Schneiter, seeded seventh, downed Mahmoud Rozk of Boise State 6-2, 6-1 and then rallied to defeat Corie Scheepers of Utah, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. He will face top-seeded and 13th-ranked Oliver Maiberger of San Diego State in one of today's quarterfinals.
The two other remaining Rebels were both eliminated early Thursday. Leslie Eisinga fell to 12th-seeded Michael Polasek of New Mexico, 6-2, 6-2 while Aviram Saloman lost to 10th-seeded Divian Coetzee of New Mexico 6-0, 6-4.
The tournament runs through Sunday.
