Letter: Supremacist militia groups greatest threat
Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 | 9:41 a.m.
The cowardly terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon was without a doubt the most horrifying act ever committed within our shores. Not only was there a great loss of lives, but the lives of millions of citizens were affected through job layoffs and the collapsing economy.
Even as large as this tragedy was, America biggest security threat will not come from international terrorism, but within our own borders.
Today you have militia groups throughout this country plotting and planning to overthrow our government. These group members are made up of white supremacists and their aim and objectives are quite clear. Anyone looking or thinking differently from them is disposable.
It is the militia groups, not the urban street gangs, that pose the greatest threat to our way of life. The bombing of abortion clinics and federal buildings are not the acts of street gangs, but rather a fraction of ingrates that preys on the innocent and unsuspecting. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were not members of any street gangs, but you can trace their connection to certain militia groups.
Wake up America! Recognize who the real enemy is!
