Activities planned at Old Fort
The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park invites the public to celebrate Nevada Day 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Old Fort, 500 E. Washington Ave.
Activities include spinning and weaving, making adobe, gold panning, Dutch oven cooking, guided tours of the site, re-enactments of troop training, pioneer music, games and a scheduled appearance by the Desert Drifters, a group of Old West re-enactors.
Admission is $2 for adults; $1 for children ages 6 through 12; free for children ages 5 and younger. For more information, call 486-3511.
Tips to be given at Home Safety Fair
As part of "Home Safety Month," the Red Cross, Clark County, Home Depot and Nevada Power will provide home safety tips and disaster preparedness information during a "Home Safety Fair" will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Home Depot, 1275 W. Craig Road. For more information, call 791-3311.
Benefit part of grand opening
A holiday food and clothing drive will be part of the grand opening and car show of Chubby's Hot Rods and Classics, 2664 S. Highland Drive, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Collections of nonperishable food and clothing will benefit Catholic Charities. Sponsors of the event are Chick's Wheel Alignment, Sin City Hot Rod Club, Las Vegas Cruising Association and KOOL 93.1- FM. Call 464-3070.
'Craft and Bake' scheduled Saturday
Catholic Daughters will hold its "Craft and Bake" sale from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis de Sales Church, 1111 Michael Way. Car wash to benefit children
Children's World Learning Centers will hold a car wash 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Texaco Turtle Stop, 9301 W. Sahara Ave., in honor of Make a Difference Day to benefit the children of Child Haven. For more information, call 256-3042.
Wheelchairs are available
