Holiday closings
Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 | 8:41 a.m.
For 60 years, Nevada Day was celebrated as an official state holiday on Oct. 31, the date of Nevada's admission. For a second straight year the event will be observed on the last Friday in October, because voters in 1998 changed the observation date to allow for a three-day weekend.
