City of Hope will hold its Walk for Hope Against Breast Cancer, a 5K fun run at 8 a.m. and a 5K walk at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, starting and finishing at the McDernott Complex at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The event will feature music, entertainment and a post-walk celebration. For more information or to register, call 933-3704.
Food drive planned on Saturday
A food drive for the Salvation Army will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Smith's Food and Drug, 9350 W. Flamingo Road, as part of Make a Difference Day.
Nonperishable foods and personal hygiene items are sought to replenish the supplies of the food bank.
The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance to thousands of families monthly and more than 400 showers a day for the homeless.

Volunteers can help with cleanup project
The River Mountain Trail will benefit from the ninth annual "Make A Difference Day" trail cleanup 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. It will begin at the Hayley Hendricks Park, 811 Ithaca Ave., in Henderson.
Transportation will be provided from the park to the trail cleanup area. Sponsors of the cleanup will offer a continental breakfast, a free lunch to all volunteers, informational displays and an event T-shirt to the first 250 volunteers.

Demonstration Gardens hosts Big Help tour
Las Vegas Big Help, a water conservation event, will be held noon-4 p.m. Saturday at Desert Demonstration Gardens, 3701 W. Alta Dr.
The event, sponsored by the Desert Demonstration Gardens, Cox Communications, the Bahamas and Nickelodeon Presents, is part of Nickelodeon's national 50-city Big Helpmobile tour that encourages children to help protect and conserve water.
The event will feature tours of the Big Helpmobile, an interactive learning lab, interactive, touch-screen kiosks, water-themed trivia games and more.

will host a program, "Getting and Keeping Your Volunteer Base," 6:30 p.m. Monday at Bugsy's Supper Club, at the corner of West Sahara Avenue and Jones Boulevard. Cost is $14. RSVP to Joanna Blockey, at (702) 220-3621.
