Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 | 10:01 a.m.

WASHINGTON -- The Senate on Tuesday approved two Nevadans for federal posts.

Daniel Bogden, 45, cleared the final hurdle in the federal nomination process to become U.S. attorney for Nevada. He is acting U.S. attorney.

Jay Bybee, a law professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was approved as assistant attorney general for the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel.

In other action the Senate Judiciary Committee could act this week on some of the five judges who were interviewed by the committee last week, including Reno lawyer Larry Hicks, who is being considered for a spot on the U.S. District Court in Nevada.
