Letter: Threat to our security is real
Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 | 9:02 a.m.
In his Oct. 21 letter, Dan Olivier chastised Jeffery Pyle for his Oct. 14 letter accusing the "American left" of using the death of 5,000 Americans to further their agenda of more welfare. After careful deliberation I've concluded that Pyle is "right" and Olivier is both "left" and wrong, as usual.
I would remind the public that this bombing "overkill" in Afghanistan is not just against Afghanistan, it's against the very seeds that breed the scum who turned four civilian jet airliners into human missiles and over 5,000 Americans into fodder.
To this day, I still recall letters written by Olivier praising his idol Bill Clinton for launching cruise missiles into Afghanistan, Sudan and Yugoslavia. Never mind that the only time Clinton ever used deadly force was when his personal legal and political problems reached their zenith. Well here's a news flash: the threat to our security and sovereignty is real; this is not about a blue dress, secrets given to China for illegal campaign contributions, or other abuses of power by the 42nd prez.
That should stand to reason why a Zogby International poll released Oct. 15 shows that Americans prefer to have President Bush leading them through the current terrorist crisis over ex-president Clinton by a landslide margin of 72 percent to 20 percent.
