SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- A state worker who is called to active duty in the National Guard or Reserves would not suffer a loss in pay, under a rule being proposed by the state Department of Personnel.
The department, which has set Dec. 7 for a public hearing on the regulation, is suggesting that employees called to active duty receive the difference between their state pay and the military compensation, which is lower, "so they will not suffer a financial loss during service to our country."
This is similar to the policy adopted Friday by the Board of Regents of the University and Community College System of Nevada to compensate faculty members summoned to active duty.
