Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 | 10:17 a.m.
LoriAnn Swanson, a senior accountant for the Greenspun Corp., died Wednesday.
Services for Swanson, 41, of Henderson, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Community Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson.
She had worked for the parent company of the Las Vegas Sun for two years and was responsible for overseeing phases of the firm's retirement plan and other employee benefits and services.
Visitation will be noon-7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Swanson's responsibilities at Greenspun Corp. included working on projects with Susan Greenspun, the eldest child of late Sun publisher Hank Greenspun.
"My wife was a go-to person for Susan, and working closely with Susan was one of her favorite duties," said Ted Swanson. "She liked her job because it gave her the opportunity to do professional work in the area for which she was educated."
Born LoriAnn Reid on Dec. 22, 1959, in Seattle, she was the youngest of five children of college professor Robert Reid and the former Laura Grance. LoriAnn graduated from Mt. Ranier High School and earned a business degree at the University of Sioux Falls, S.D. She also became a certified public accountant.
While working for Creative Surfaces, a sign design firm in Sioux Falls, she met her future husband Ted, who worked for the same firm. They moved to Henderson when he was transferred to Creative Surfaces here.
She worked at Bally's before accepting the position with the Greenspun Corp.
In addition to her husband, Swanson is survived by two daughters, Meghan Schwab and Molly Schwab; a sister, Linda Hornsby; and three brothers, Martin Reid, Patrick Reid and Michael Reid, all of Seattle.
