Letter: Bin Laden can’t hide forever
Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 | 4:19 a.m.
There is something I don't understand. Maybe one of your readers can help me out.
Osama bin Laden is a suspected drug dealer, a multimillionaire and the No. 1 suspect in many terrorist acts. He calls for a holy war because he believes he has the right to say to Americans, "Do as I say, think like I do, or there will be hell to pay."
What I don't understand is, if his way of living is so great, why does he move two or three times a week? Does he find a better cave? Or is he worried about the drugs in his neighborhood? Or is he worried that someone, maybe even one of the drug addicts that he created, wants to cash in on the multimillion-dollar reward for him?
This is a very rich man who could have helped untold numbers of people with his wealth. Instead he chose to murder thousands of innocent people. He said he would like to "slit the throat of every American."
So when we do catch up with him -- and we will -- do you think his followers will say -- "God has spoken, let's stop the aggression," or will they say, "America had no right to rid the world of this drug-dealing, murdering, terrorist punk"?
