Benefit bowling set at Castaways
The Southern Nevada Domestic Violence Task Force will hold two events this weekend at the Castaways Bowling Lanes, 2800 Fremont St., to commemorate October Domestic Violence Awareness month.
The annual rededication of the Victim Memorial Plaque will be 11 a.m. Saturday The event is free.
The fourth annual Bowl-a-Thon will be noon-5 p.m. Saturday. The fund-raiser requires participants to have a minimum of $35 in donations. The event will include a raffle, prizes and balloons.

Event planned Saturday at LV pool
Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center and primary health care students throughout the Las Vegas Valley will present the National Primary Care Week Health Fair 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the city of Las Vegas' Municipal Pool and Senior Center, 431 E. Bonanza Road.
Screenings will be available for blood pressure, body fat analysis, dental checks, height and weight, immunizations and well baby checks.

Mack schedules Monday session
Las Vegas Councilman Michael Mack will host neighborhood meetings in Ward 6, encouraging residents to ask questions on a variety of topics.
The next meeting is Monday, 6:30 p.m., at Harold J. Brinley Community Middle School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road.

Firms, individuals will be honored
Fourteen Nevada individuals and companies will be honored Saturday night at the Governor's Awards in the Arts and Humanities ceremony.
The event is 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday at the County Government Center, 500 S.Grand Central Parkway. Call (775) 687-6680.
Creature Feature, a Halloween event
sponsored by the city of Las Vegas, will be 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive. Call 229-1100.
"Fossils of the Triassic Seas of Nevada,"
a lecture, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Geologist Steve Scott will present information about the creatures that lived in Nevada's ancient seas. Call 455-7955.
